KING'S LYNN V LIONS, PREVIEW

LEICESTER are bidding for an eighth successive Sports Insure Premiership victory when they travel to King’s Lynn on Thursday.

The Watling JCB Lions have already been successful on their previous visit to the Adrian Flux Arena when they edged a tight contest 47-43 last month, and they duly claimed the aggregate point from a hard-fought home win over the Stars on Monday.

Thursday’s match is the first Round 2 fixture between the clubs and offers the second-placed Lions a possible opportunity to close the gap on leaders Belle Vue, who face a difficult trip to Sheffield.

Boss Stewart Dickson names an unchanged team including recent signing Troy Batchelor, who had two spells with King’s Lynn earlier in his career.

Meanwhile the Stars are still without the injured Michael Palm Toft, and they operate rider replacement after their planned guest Rory Schlein was involved in a big crash at Oxford on Wednesday.

Dickson said: “I expect this to be a tough meeting. The King’s Lynn riders are used to their track, and there’s a more solid look about them now.

“The win on Monday was pleasing, and fingers crossed the riders riding in the Championship on Wednesday come through their meetings unscathed so we have a full squad for Thursday.

“We will be going there for a win, and that’s not me being blasé, it’s the story of our season so far.

“We’ve been getting a lot of race wins, but we will need to pick up in certain areas compared to Monday if we’re going to get anything.”

Lions fans are reminded that there is now no meeting at the Pidcock Motorcycles Arena, Beaumont Park this Monday (July 24) and the next home action is on Monday July 31 when the Lions face Ipswich.

KING’S LYNN: Artem Laguta, Kye Thomson, Michael Palm Toft R/R, Thomas Jorgensen, Nicolai Klindt, Simon Lambert, Anders Rowe.
LEICESTER: Max Fricke, Justin Sedgmen, Troy Batchelor, Chris Harris, Richard Lawson, Jake Allen, Drew Kemp.
